Open Day Birthday Celebrations πππΎ
Thank you so much to everyone who made it to our 5th birthday celebrations earlier this month. After a bit of a panic, because the road was closed, it turned out to be a fabulous day! There were fox cakes baked by Julia, there was goody bags, cake and bubbly and there were prizes in the raffle too. I don't think I stopped all day, it was brilliant, so thank you!
We're thinking of having another open day event in November, possibly 12th, what do you think? I may have an idea or two to make it bigger and better...well, maybe not better, cos our last one was pretty good π.

Anyway, there's lots to tell you about, like lots of fabulous courses at The Fox Studios, and not just jewellery ones! There's still a space on the Sea Glass setting workshop on 29th July, although you can create a gem set piece instead if that's your preference. Or we have a Mixed Media workshop on 30th July, where you can either create a sketchbook, or some art prints ready to be framed go on the wall. I'll be showing you an exciting printmaking technique called Gum Arabic Transfer (or Photo Lithography as it can be called). This is a creative workshop using simple techniques to create fabulous artworks (no drawing required!). We've got Summer School coming up from 31st Jul - 4th Aug, five whole days of jewellery making! We're covering a different technique each day. Amie will be teaching you all about Argentium in the Argentium Ring or Pendant (or both) workshop on 12th Aug. Argentium (940) is a different type of silver which you can fuse together instead of using solder, as you would with sterling silver (925). If you've got some unusual shaped stones that you've had stashed in your jewellery box (we all have some) and not known what to do with them, then maybe a claw setting would work? Amie will be running the Claw Setting workshop on 19th Aug. All the settings will be in silver! Then it's time for a Make a Ring or Two Taster Session on 21st Aug. These are dotted throughout the year, so head on over to the website if this date doesn't work for you. Judith Brown returns on 2nd Sep for her popular Wirework Jewellery workshop. You'll get to make a statement necklace with a range of embroidery and beading techniques, and maybe squeeze in a pair of earrings too. There are lots more One Day Workshops listed on the website, but I'll just mention one more, one of my favourites, which is the Colourful Aluminium Jewellery workshop on 3rd Sep. I really do love this one, it's so much fun, playing with colour on anodised aluminium, before creating a number of pieces of jewellery, all in one day! Phewweee, I told you there was a lot to tell you and that's only up to the beginning of Sep!?! There's loads more fabulous workshops to choose from. |

Then there's the programme of creative workshops I'm planning for our classroom space. I am so excited to welcome Tamzin Harris to the studios. We've discussed a few ideas (in fact we discussed lots of things, we kept going off on tangents, it was a really fab conversation) and I was struggling to choose (she's got loads of brilliant workshops), but we're starting with the fabulous Papier-Mâché Birds workshop on 16th Sep. |

She's also going to be doing a Christmas Decorations workshop too!!! Is it too early to mention ππ? |

I was lucky enough to get a few days away to Barmouth and the weather was kind too! Who doesn't love a good old boat covered in character like this one? |

As you can see, I was suitably inspired to start a new painting...it might be a while before I finish it though. |

The workshop was filled with lovely flowers after our birthday celebrations. Thank you to everyone, especially Myles, for the beautiful blooms πΉπ»πΈπΌ
Just before the open day, I was featured in the Warrington Guardian. I had spoken to one of the journalists and just assumed that it was for an online article, however, I got an inkling it might have actually been published in the paper. Standing in Tescos, I went through page by page until I suddenly found the article and slammed the paper shut. I did not expect it to be a FULL page spread...I hoped no-one stood near me had seen because it's a blooming big photo! I picked up two copies and hastily took them to the till before having a good read outside π.
July has been a quiet month for classes, as I've tried to get a few jobs done around the place, but we've still had a couple of workshops in between. Savannah made these gorgeous enamelled butterflies. She has plans to make them into a statement piece which I can't wait to see finished.
In another part of the space, I've started to create a bit of a shop area, selling a selection of handmade crafted items, including these lovely sketchbooks. The shop will only be open by appointment, so as not to disturb classes, email us if you would like to visit. |

If you've stuck with me this far, then I think it's only fair I share a little 10% discount code, valid until 31st July. Use 'summer23' at checkout for the discount.
Hope you have a fab summer! |
